02 Explorer 4x4 control module question

I want to take out the fuse for the control module so that it uses 2wd instead of the all time 4wd to get better gas mileage. Then i want to put the fuse back in when i need 4wd.
I know that it uses 2wd when you unplug it because i recently had to replace the part and was driving around without the part in the car.

I am wondering if anyone else has tried this and if it will mess up any parts like the new control module?

This will work. Alternatively, you may want to look into the brown wire mod, so you can go between 2wd and 4wd with the flip of a switch.
