Hi,
I'm having some issues with my 02 Explorer.
Currently the O/D light starts flashing and the check transmission light comes on.
It's not shifting harder (than normal), but it has recently started to feel like it's slipping when I'm over 65mph.
I took it to a tranny place. Their saying I have a code 5 - gear ratio shift error - according to their computer. They've pull the pan and the fluid looks fine. They think I'm going to need a new tranny, but they need to run 'internal computer test' to see if that's the case - at the bargin price of $95 per hour (supposed to be at least 2 hours to see if there is even an issue). Ugh.
Suggestions? Do a solenoid replacement pack?
