Anyone know where to find the ECU and code for a Superchip on a '02 Explorer, XLS w/4.0 SOHC and 5 speed? I'm having trouble locating it. There is a vertically mounted interface on the passanger side firewall with 3 bolts, each bolt holds a seperate pigtail in the interface but there is no code to be found, and even if there were, there is no ECU there to put a chip into.

TIA

if I remember right a 2002 explorer is not chippable...

Superchip lists chips for Explorers up to 99 only.

That's has to be an out of date document on the Superchip website. I traded in a Superchipped 2000 Explorer XLS for my new 2002.

hmm ok when I was doing the superchip group purchase I was told only up to 2001 could be chipped, but they may have come out with something since then. Sorry I dont know the answer to your questiont hough.

Wonder why these companies don't update their website. It might take all of 10 minutes. I can understand printed catalogs.

Sorry I passed on old data,

Yeah I believe they have CHips for the 2001-2002 sports and I am pretty sure about that because I remember e-mailing the guy when that group buy was going on..

Post 1000 :D

No problem about the old data Al.

New info for anyone interested; I just called Superchip and was basically told they don't know either!

The guy I spoke to said to find the ECU, he couldn't tell me where to find it, and take it out and see if there is a port on it. If there is a port then it's chippable if not then it isn't! Gee, thanks for nothing Superchip tech support!

Maybe my next step will be to call a Ford dealer service dept and at least see if they can tell me WHERE the ECU is!

Cool. Thanks for the info Matt. I'll try to get in contact with this guy and see if he can shed some light on this for me.

Scott....

Mike is an awesome guy with a helluva lot of knowledge and superior customer service. I recently bought my third chip from him. I believe his e-mail is mtroyer@compuserve.net. I highly recommend him.

Thanks for trying to help but that email addy is no good. I tried to send an email and it was rejected, 'no known recipient, address does not exist'. Maybe it is an aol.com address now that AOL and Compuserve merged?

Scott....

I know he has aother e-mail also, its "performance" something, but I couldn't find it. Try compuserve.com.

You can try calling him. He is very informative over the phone.
