Hello:

I'm fairly new to this forum and hope to have a great experience here.

My first question is in regards to my suspension.

How can I tell if my 2002 Ford Explorer XLT has struts or shocks?

I know this may be a dumb question but I'm really curious as I want to upgrade my suspension.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Michael K.

Explorers have a strut/spring combo. It's one unit.

If you are looking for new ones, I use and recommend Monroe Quick Struts.

Thank you for the reply, if I wanted to find them on Amazon.com, would I just type in "Monroe Quick Struts"?

Thanks,

Michael K.

i would use rockauto.com personally but yes you could search amazon for them. it might be more beneficial to get a part number from monroe just to confirm that the parts fit

"struts" is more of a marketing term because majority of the cars suspension are struts and companies selling the spring/coil and shock absorber combos are calling them "struts", to be technically correct the 3rd gen uses "coil overs" throughout.

Use rockauto for part numbers

Thanks all for the replies, I will consider all of these options when buying new Struts/Coils.

If you have any questions on the struts or shocks that we carry, you can PM me and I'll help you out.

Tony
