02 Ford Explorer Rear Storage Compartment handle

The storage compartment door/panel on my 3rd row seat '02 Explorer (where the jack & lugwrench are kept) The plastic handle snapped off, is there a part number for this? Can it be fixed or does another carpeted panel have to be ordered?

If this is posted elsewhere, please forgive the repost, I tried the search & couldn't find anything.

I think you're talking about part 45626B? You could probably repair it, but I think you would have to order the whole cover. Could be wrong though.

I think you meant another part. I saw where you said carpeted. Either way check out fordpartsgiant.com. Enter your VIN on the right side, Then look under body and paint, Interier trim. Hope that helps.

The handle broke in two.. the spring disappeared.. and I eventually tossed the handle..

So I'll have to buy new.. was hoping to just get like a handle replacement kit or something.. guess I'll take the panel into the local dealership & see what I can get.

this happened to mine too, I just threw a pair of channellocks in the little storage bin beside the panel in the drivers side wheel well and use that to pull up on the panel, I'm kinda curious though as to how much ford wants for a new panel...

63 bucks for a lil piece of broken plastic?! Bah!

Mine was broken on my '02 when I bought it last summer...I've just let the pieces sit in the hole so it looks right but i take the whole handle out when opening the compartment
