Hi everyone,
so I just bought my first explorer, it is a 02 limited 4.6 v8 it has 228900 miles, I paid 1700. the truck runs and shift really good, has p300 code random mis that needs to be taken care of but that's not that is not my biggest concern, there is a rattle sound coming from the front of the engine it is intermittent and only at about 1500-2000rpm it sounds like its coming from the pulley area, also there is a loud howling sound when I first start it in the morning I thought maybe alt bearings or intake but It seems to be coming from below in the transmission area it goes away after the truck has completely warmed up or about a half hour into driving, then usually don't make the sound again during the day, any ideas? thanks for all your advice.

edit- also my gas mileage is horrid, 150 miles to 3/4 tank, avarge mpg around 10mpg, is this normal?
