Hey guys,
I had my driver-side power window fail on me. '02 ranger 4.0L SOHC XLT. I took off the panel and the water cover, and tracked down the problem.
Using my multi-meter I checked and there's no voltage going to the motor. The switch is fine, getting ~12v, and when I use it, the toll-booth module thingy (that makes the window go all the way down) clicks somewhere under the dashboard. So I figure the problem has to be somewhere between there and the motor power hookup.
The thing is, I got a Haynes for it. It says that the windows have separate fuses, but then in the wiring diagrams doesn't show the power windows. The manual shows only one power window fuse, in the power distribution box, which checks out fine.
I don't know how to actually trace the wire. It looks like it all goes to a control module that you could pull out under the driver dash, but I'm not sure if that's where I should be looking or what I should do.
Honestly I don't care much for the tollbooth thingy and I'd be happy to wire it straight from the switch to the motor, if the wiring could handle the current. If not, where do I look? How do I trace the problem?
Thank you for taking the time to look and answer!
