Hey all. I have an 02 XLT with the single cd factory stereo . . . no bells and whistles. I'm trying to hook up the Peripheral Electronics ipod adapter that is supposed to be recognized as CD changer. I've plugged everything in but it still doesn't recognize it. When I press the CD button on the stereo, I keep getting the "no CD" message. Is there a trick to accessing the aux input function on this stereo? Does it even have one? I'd love to know if anyone has done this and met with success. I'm getting frustrated. I did notice that the single disc player in the owners manual has a tune button that says "disc" on it as well. Mine does not. Is anyone else's like that or is it possible that my stereo was switched out at some point? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

that adapter only works w/ the 6CD changer audiophile system

it specifically says that it's not for the internal 6 disc changer system. it's the Peripheral PXDP. my bigger question is if the basic, single disc player has the capability to control an external cd changer and, if so, how. Peripheral and Crutchfield both seem to think that it does.

Call both companies and ask them to explain... If they can't, or bs you, you know what to do ;)

so . . . do the oem single disc stereos in the 02 explorers have the ability to control an external cd changer? how do you select the changer from the headunit? i think this is the key to getting this thing to work. thanks again.
