thats what I'm saying, how in the hell are they going to get traction, especially in fwd form:eek:

My friends 03' Cobra will completley annihilate the tires in 1st, 2nd, and burn them half way through 3rd, and the 03' Cobra weighs close to 4000lbs now, about 3800 or so...

Thats insane, I'd think they'd be lucky to break outta 14's in the quarter cause a slight drop clutch on an 03' Cobra will roast the tires:eek:

edit- also that engine puts out way more hp and torque then what it's rated for, it puts out around 425hp or so at the fly wheel based off dyno's from my friends 03' Cobra and others on Stangnet. Thats nutz in a Focus, I can't believe they got the dohc 4.6 with a charger to fit b/c thats not a small engine and it's very wide.

Its also got a RWD conversion

me and troll saw that car inperson at the PRI show. we got all the info on it. it is a sweet car 400hp 2800 pounds and 6spd with IRS. we are thinking of buiding one now. after our v8 miata conversion we can do almost any thing.

heres a thread from stangnet forum that has a bunch of more links for pics, along with 5.0 Focuses. With a stock 5.0 V8 they run in the 11's, I don't even want to know what they are capable of with the 4.6 dohc Cobra monster:eek:

???? You mean the Lightning engine:confused: Actually I have a Car and Driver or Motortrend with two different 2001 Cobras in it, a Ford Mustang Cobra Jet S/C and a Ford Mustang Cobra Competition.

Ford Mustang Cobra Jet S/C - looked pretty sweet and had the supercharged 5.4 V8 from the Lightning dropped in, which meant bad traction problems, no matter what they did, they would completley burn the tires on acceleration because of the tq.

Ford Mustang Cobra Competition - looked awsome also and had a N/A 4.6 dohc V8 putting out 380hp at 6750rpm and 350lb-ft of tq at 5500rpm.

its kinda funny you all just posted this. one of the remodeling guys that is working on our house dropped me this info couple weeks ago. apparently their building them just up the street from my house! 20k to do the conversion and that's with providing the Focus. first guy to do it was doing burnouts in a parking lot and wrapped it around a telephone pole. i'm planning to make visit by there and see on of them. maybe i'll get some pics for you guys....if you're nice!

ATI Motorsports makes the Cobra Focus, there based in Wixom, MI. It cost 65,000 + a donor Focus, theres an immense amount of work to put that car toether.

Not sure why that guy told you it was made in FL for 20,000.....the Cobra engine alone is about 13,000 at the minimum. Foget about all the other dtuff to switch it to rwd and like a 10 page list of parts:confused:

Maybe he was thinking of RennTec b/c their based close to you I think, lol j/k.

The red one that was on Motorweek is made in Cali, but it has a 302 crate motor. Looked tough with duals coming out from the back bumper.

The valve covers on the DOHC are monstrous. Beautiful engine though :D I think the 4.6 DOHC will be Ford's replacement for the now defunct LS1 Camaro/Firebird V-8. It's sad how GM cancels its sports cars, and Ford makes some cars with balls.
