03 Explorer - DVD reads "No Disc"

Can anyone please tell me if the factory dvd player can be fixed when it reads "no disc" even when a disc is in? I really don't want to shell out $250-300 for a used one...Everything else seems to work fine except this. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, what did you do??

My unit did the exact thing. Here in San Diego was more expensive to fix than new after market.
I highly recommend Crutchfield.com they are very helpful with the selection that you will be happy with and they send super easy install sheets. I installed a Kenwood system that sounds awesome. MJ

Thanks, did you only replace the DVD unit or end up taking the whole factory system out?
