03 manual transmission work in a 99

Use the flywheel from the donor it will bolt to your 99 engine yes and accept the larger sohc clutch
I upgrade every ohv to the larger 03+ clutch it makes all the difference in the world

Can have it surfaced at local machine shop
Should I use the a slave cylinder from a 99 though cause of the hydraulic line size ?

Sure 99 slave and master
They are same as 03 meaning the design did not change and they should be the same part number

rhere not the difference is the line size from the master cylinder to the slave

If the 03 2 door sport is a rare model why not do a coyote build with it . Is what I was thinking
Problem is, anything bigger than a 5.0 won't fit without a lot of work. Coyote would be cool, but a 347 or 363 stroker would be a drop in fit with similar power level.

03 sport is not that rare
A 2003 explorer with a 5 speed manual is rare

Use master and slave for a 99 will work with the larger sohc clutch and flywheel

Anything 2003 with a 5.0 is rare though.

And not legal everywhere
I have a 03 5.0 a 04 5.0, 05 5.0 and the super rare 06 5.0 all currently in the stable… crazy when you think about it. I’m glad ford never made these! So I can!

Are there crazy modifications that have to be done to put the 5.0 in the 03

Yes absolutely crazy wiring
But it has been documented and can be repeated

The drivetrain basically bolts in
You would first need to make sure it’s legal where you are. Last year of 5.0 engine was 01 so installing it into a 03 model year is not allowed in many places

Got it in and complete drives great had to get a new master cylinder

Everything from a 99 all the way down will work with the 03 manual . Theres an extra plug on the tail of it haven’t looked into what that one is yet smh lol it still drives that’s all I can ask for

The master cylinders are not the same I found that out by trial and fire it’s not much of a difference but if you have a 99 slave cylinder you need to have a 99 master cylinder you can not mix and match
