I have an '03 XLS with a bad regulator motor on one of rear windows (per the ford service rep). I got a new motor online and am trying to replace it.
Both Chiltons and Ford DVD Manual recommend removing the regulator to swap the motor. Further, they say you need to lower the window some to access the bolt holding the window and regulator together. Questions:
- Is this necessary? I can see and access the three bolts securing the motor through the dorr panel, but it appears to be a tight fit.
- If it is neccesary, how do you lower the window if the problem is the motor?
- I'm tempted to just start disassembling evrything and then figure it out after.
Next week I get to tackle the regulator on the drivers door. The rear one seems easier and more accessible, so I am tackling it first.
Thanks
