04 4x4 light blinking 8 times?

Thanks for looking in - I've got an 04 4x4 blinking 8 times - what does that mean? I've seen other similiar posts but no diagnostic on 8 blinks. Might be a good sticky to detail diagnostic for different blinks. Also, I do have an ABS light on and have seen in other posts the possible problem is abs sensor and I'm hoping the 8 blinks leads me that way for sure - thanks!

The 4x4 light blinking reveals nothing. There is no significance to the number of blinks or the frequency. It's merely telling you that there is something wrong.

you bump the 4x4 button when reaching for the radio ? I have done this a few times and it blinks at me. haha

Check for rat activity under the hood. Mine did that (blinking/flashing) and I had an exposed wire in the thick loom above the radiator cowling. Easy to check for(look for chew marks), cheap fix (a bit of sparky tape) if thats the problem. I didnt have the abs light problem tho'.
