I have a question maybe somebody may have run into once before

Ive been to 3 different shops without any real help on this problem

basically after a hard stop it feels like the brakes stay locked for several seconds. The truck will try to pull away but it feels like a parking brake is still on and then after a few seconds it releases...
one shop tried to tell me its stuck in 4wd (bs) and 2 others said the brakes are fine (pads, rotors calibers etc.) even though I specifically asked if the front line(s) might be collapsing....
It doesnt do it under light braking or backwards...
the last shop who said its stuck in 4wd (isnt though) said they heard clicking in transfer case...unfortunatley I dont think any of these shops really have a clue about 4wd

anybody else run into anything similar out there?

Thanks in advance :)

The 04 are pretty well known for parking brake shoe fall off. My brake lining was completely off the shoes on one side and completely pulverized on the other. Maybe the hard braking is causing your "loose" parking brake shoes to slide and wedge.

Also our 04 Focus had a sticky caliper on it. When I stopped at Ford dealer for parts they also mentioned the flexible brake lines can give problems that don't allow the fluid pressure to relieve and hold the brake on.

At least these are a couple places to start.

appreciate the input..
I kinda doubt the parking brake...it releases after about 5 seconds every time..

OK, problem figured out..turns out the sealed transmission was somewhat low on fluid (nice there's no dipstick to know that BTW)...
The pickup tube on hard breaking was grabbing air towards back of tranny..
routine drain, fill and filter in tranny fluid solved the problem...

Ok, glad you got it solved sir

AND NOW I must know.... routine drain? You can do that on these ridiculous designs?
I was always told the trans was not self-servicable, and needed a 'Ford machine' (go figure)
