When backing up and turning hard one way or the other, the explorer clunkes and seems to get on a bind. I replaced the front dr. side axle and it still does it. I got it off the ground and when you spin the wheels the front diff appears jump and it makes the clunk noise. So do the bushings that hold the front diff. go bad or is it something inside or what? Thanks for any help.

What do mean the front diff "jumps"? Has a mounting bolt come loose or a bracket broken? How are the CV joints, ball joints and such?

How does it behave at high speed?

It "jumps" as in moves around quickly and suddenly. The bolts and brakets look fine. My friend believes it is a bushing worn out. But i don't think that is it, but i don't know if they wear out. The dr. side axle was just replaced b/c that is what i thought the problem was orginal. All the ball joints seem fine on the dr. side and look fine on the pass. side. It does fine going straight at any speed. It's only when you turn very sharply.
