hi i have an after market stereo installed on my adrenalin. i know there are toms of people on this forum with the same thing. i am still going through my stock amp i should mention. but i think my amp is not turning off when i turn off the car and it is draining the battery overnight! if anyone else has experienced this problem please help me out! i really need to fix this soon!
also i should add when i hook an ammeter up to the negative battery terminal i get a reading of about 21 miliamps with the amplifier connected (the tech support guy at crutch field said a reading of 21 miliamps is not that high) and it drops to about 5 with it disconnected.
I still have the stock head unit in my '04 Adrenalin, so I can only help you so much on that front. However, how do you have the remote turn-on wire for the stock amp wired up? It should be wired to only turn on when it receives a positive input from the head unit. A second alternative, though still not recommended, is to have it wired to just a keyed source so that it turns on only when the key is in the "Run" or "ACC" position. If the amp really is draining your battery like you say, then it probably is wired to a constant-power input, which will only turn off your amp if you disconnect the battery. Double-check your wiring and see where everything is going. Best of luck!
yea i have been checking possibilities along that route for a few weeks now and still have not really found anything. i do have my remote turn on lead hooked up to the correct wire but i recently switched it to a diff one as per crutchfields directions and this did not do me anygood. all i did was switch it from the blue wire to another switched source.
So if you remove the lead from a power source altogether, does the amp still turn on? If so, then you don't have the remote turn-on lead. If the amp doesn't turn on, then put it back on the blue remote wire from your head unit, check to see if it works, and then look for another cause of the battery drain. That's about all I can do for you without seeing it in person, sorry.
