Ok so we've got a few issues here...I am am about to rip the last bit of hair I have out.

Fuel gauge never is accurate, it goes way beyond full and sometimes even pegs itself completely double the full level. Ive been told its the anti-slosh, but I wanna have it verified before I tear into it

Second, is the tempature gauge will vary when I know the truck is running normal temp, and abs light comes on intermittently

The display center on the right of the cluster flickers but then will eventually remain lit.

Every once in a while the cluster will go into diagnostic mode and all gauges will reset.

Tach, and speedometer will go haywire every once in a while too.

Dont know if this is related, but the automatic headlights will have an audible click and they'll go out.

Lots of things to diagnose, so anything would be greatly appreciated.

I've read similar issues caused by a weak or faulty battery, especially gauge and lighting issues. Battery tested?

That really stinks. I had inaccurate gas gauge but ran a few cans of seafoam and Techron in the gas tank and it is fixed now.

I had to replace the whole cluster. It was on back order. it is a known issue :(

Can you get a cluster from a junk yard vehicle. Probably save you a ton of money. Just need to make sure you get one from a 4x4 if you have one and make sure you have the correct odometer style (digital for the later years or analog for the older ones). Only issue is the mileage won’t match up.

Just worked on my grandson 2005 Sport Trac, the cluster gauges would go out and the ABS and battery would light would come on. Vehicle would keep working normally. The gauges would start operating normally after a short time. I notice the issued would occur between between 2500 and 3000 rpm driving or in park. Also the light got brighter and the voltage gauge showed an increase just before the gauges went out. A check with a volt meter showed a spike of 17 volts just before the gauges went out. The problem is the alternator. It keeps the battery charged and the voltage level is good just goes out of regulation at higher rpms. The cluster must have an over voltage protection circuit that cuts power when the voltage gets too high.

The cluster controls the power sent to the internal voltage regulator inside the alternator

The 05 sport trac instrument cluster is a one year thing. It also has the battery saver relay built into it

There is a company that can test/ repair them found on ebay
However I’m not sure they can fix everything and the cluster to them, on a bench, will test good and still have issues when plugged back into the truck

These clusters fetch good money used because they were only 05 sport trac and the livelihood of the truck depends on several Circuits inside of it

My speedometer, tachometer, and oil temp sensor are all sitting at their bottom position and don't move when the vehicle is on. The odometer and trip-meter both show just dashes.

I believe the issue is in the instrument cluster. Would you agree? Repair it or replace it?

Well to replace it you have to find one
I see them on eBay time to time around $300

I would send mine on for repairs if it was my truck. They are able to bench test it and fix any issues they find with the cluster… I am not sure they can fix anything inside the cluster that is out of their “realm”
Or normal cluster fixing. The 05
Cluster is a one off deal

I am sure you have checked all fuses? Using a multimeter you could test several power feeds to ensure the issue is indeed in the cluster… then send it off for repair

There
Appear to be several
Clusters on eBay now, reman around $90! That’s the way to go! Might have to reprogram your miles with somebody who has forscan software and a pc or ask the repair service if they can setup the cluster to match your current miles
