My wifes 06 explorer 4.0 xlt awd. I am having problems with it dying. We can be driving down the road and the wrench light will come on in the dash and then it will die. It will start back up after about a minute. It has been to the dealer 3 times. The last time they said it was a loose connection on the throttle position sensor. It ran fine for 2 weeks and now it is doing it again. There are no codes stored in the computer. The dealer cant fix it because they have been unable to recreate the problem. She likes her explorer but is now scared that it will leave her and the kids on the side of the road. I havent been able to take it to the dealer myself because it only starts this when I'm @ work. I feel like they are giving her the run around. The second time that it was in the shop they kept it for a week.

Any help will be appreciated.

She took it in to the shop on sat. She picked it back up today. It ended up being the throttle body. The service manager said that when they go out it is usually act like this because they are electronic.

Maybe this will help someone else in the future.

I had the exact same problem with my 2006 Mustang. The throttle bodies get dirty behind the butterflies. It was easy enough to take off and clean with a microfiber towel.
