06 explorer stereo

Hello all. I just bought a used 06 explorer that has the factory stereo in it but does not have the sirius piece in it. I don't need anything fancy so here are the options I am looking at.

1) Keep existing radio and get the sirius piece. Anyone know where I could get one of these? The dealer I bought the truck from said they couldn't get one for 8 weeks atleast.

2) I have a 1 Din Kenwood radio that has the kenwood sirius piece with it, from my last car. If I go this route, anyone know of a good mounting kit for a 1 din radio in a 2 din slot?

3) I found a 2 din kenwood radio that I liked that would be able to use my current kenwood sirius box.

So, any opinions??? I'm really not sure what route I want to go.

I know little about sirius radio, but this place sells sirius modules for Fords.

You might want to check out eBay. I saw a radio with the Sirius piece built in about a week ago.

Thanks for the info. I was at a dealership this week and the accessories guy told me that Ford does not currently make the Sirius receiver for my HU because it has the aux button on it. There used to be another company that made them but Ford shut them down. They will be introducing their own Sirius receiver but not until next year.

I will try ebay to see if I can find a radio I like out there.

What I saw out there was YOUR same radio with the Sirius included. I was puzzled because the pictures didn't show any external boxes, the Sirius part may be inside the receiver itself. I'll be pulling mine out this weekend. If I see something external that you can purchase, I'll let you know.

Well darn! I pulled this console apart to put in my wired FM modulator and here's what I found:

From the back, it appears that the antenna socket and wire are non-standard. Its as thick as a regular antenna jack but the inside looks like a Sirius antenna socket. I guess Sirius is built into the HU, which prevents me from attaching the FM modulator, at least to the back of the radio.

I actually just purchased a new Kenwood DPX-301 stereo. I got it off ebay for half the price as crutchfield. I think I will just plug my original Sirius tuner into that stereo.
