06 Ranger Trans.

One time happening. Backing up and felt like I hit something. Immediate stop. Went forward, in and out of gear a few times, 4wd on and off. Light did come on. Fixed itself. Has not done it since. Took to dealer and they tried to duplicate and could not. Talking to them today. Suspect, per lots of comments, either solenoid or low reverse band. Any info greatly appreciated. Don't even qualify as junior motorhead. Unless older than 1955. Thanks.

Welcome to this forum! Maybe the engine was revving a little high since it first started, then it abruptly locked into gear.

How long ago did this occur? If it never happened again, and it's been over a month, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the info. Been parking so I can get out forward just in case. Will drive it and see what happens. I read that if it is low reverse band when you shift to first you will get no engine drag. I do, so I guess it is not that.
