2008 Sport Trac XLT
I have a 2008 Explorer Sport Trac that I have bought used and the back center window has never gone up or down. I've recently ordered an OEM replacement motor and replaced the original. This motor (and the original) doesn't respond when trying to operate. Iv'e put a test lite to the plug and found the constant power, up, and down on three of the six ports. Is there a re-initialization for this year model like the older Sport Trac? Or am I over looking something?

Here are the general steps:

Window Motor Initialization — Rear
  1. Open the driver door. The door must remain open through the entire procedure.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and cycle to the RUN position 5 times, ending in the RUN position.
  3. Depress and hold the power rear window control switch in the down position for 3 seconds and then release.
    1. NOTE: When performing this step, movement of the rear window may not be seen, but the rear window motor will be active.
  4. Depress and hold the power rear window control switch in the down position for 3 seconds after the rear window stalls in the full down position.
    1. NOTE: If the rear window does not operate when performing this step, repeat steps 1,2 and 3.
  5. Depress and hold the power rear window control switch in the up position for 3 seconds after the rear window stalls in the full up position.
  6. Verify correct operation of the power rear window by moving the window to the VENT, fully OPEN and fully CLOSED positions. If the window does not operate correctly, carefully repeat this procedure.
Good luck
Steve

Hey Steve...will this on a 2003 sport trac as well ? Thanks, Tim

No. Here's the process for 2003:
NOTE: Because the power rear window removal/installation position is approximately three-quarters down and the power rear window motor can only move the window to three positions, a special procedure is necessary to position the window to theremoval/installation position.

NOTE: If the power rear window motor does not respond to this procedure, refer to the diagnosis and testing portion of this section for repair. If the window must be removed and the window motor does not respond to this procedure, remove the windowmotor. The window then can be moved by carefully applying hand pressure in the downward direction.

NOTE: By only partially carrying out the power rear window motor initialization procedure, the window motor will enter error mode. In error mode, no window motor movement is possible and the window motor will have to be reinitialized. Refer to Rear Window Motor Initialization in this section.

NOTE: The key-in-ignition chime can cause the vent button to be pressed more or less than six times due to the distraction of the chime.
NOTE: Steps 1-6 must be completed within 30 seconds

1. Start with the ignition in the OFF position. Open the driver door.
2. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
3. Press the power rear window control switch vent button six times.
4. Turn the ignition to the OFF position. The driver door must be open.
5. Press the power rear window control switch vent button six times.
6. Turn the ignition to the ON position. The power rear window will move down-up-down-up approximately 20 mm (0.8 in). This movement indicates that the window motor has entered initialization mode.
7. Rotate and hold the power rear window control switch to the CLOSE position until the window stalls into the upper header seal.
8. Momentarily rotate the power rear window control switch to the OPEN position and release. The window will carry out a one-touch down operation until the window stalls at the bottom of the travel stop designed into the window regulator.
9. Rotate and hold the power rear window control switch to the CLOSE position momentarily until the window regulator glass attach bolts are lined up with the sheet metal access holes. The window will be approximately in the three-quarter DOWNposition when installed to the window regulator.
10. Repeat this procedure if the window regulator glass attach bolts are raised too far above the sheet metal access holes.

I tried it and it didn’t work. Mine stopped working when my alternator died last summer
