Anyone ever put on 1/2 wheel spacers on a 2wd Explorer? If so, what did you use to get the lugs to fit properly??

i putting 1.25" on my sport 2wd this week

Stock studs are too short

The stock studs that come on the disks brakes/ rotors are too short. I can only get about 2-3 rotations of the lugs and I don't feel safe driving that way. I was wondering if anyone else used a 1/2 inch wheel spacers (obviously they make them so someone must of used them) and what they did to make them fit.
And I'm not talking about wheel adaptors that mount to your rotors and have studs in the adaptor extending the wheels 1 to 2 1/2 inches just the little 1/2 inch plates that go in between the wheel and the stock disk/rotors.

If you get spacers like that, find high quality snug fitting ones.

i wouldnt really use the ones your talken about....there like 8 bucks each @ autozone but its just a piece of metal like....doesnt see msafe to me

These are bad news. Ever see how many ricers suffer from wheel seperation? This is one of the leading causes (the other cause is off-camber lowered IFS breaking apart). 1/2" dosen't produce much difference in the looks department. Why risk it? I use H&R 1.75" spacers in my rear. These are the type that include lugs on thepart. They work great but are pricy. Even I won't touch the front. Too much can go wrong, and it will inhibit steering.

I'd skip it, use the money for a more usefull upgrade.

For 1/2" studs, you must have at least 1/2" worth of threads engaged. That amounts to over five turns of the lug nuts. I use 1/4" spacers, and the set cost $160. Throw any spacers away which have more than the needed number of holes, or have any dead space in them. Good luck,
