Look to spend around $100...I have a Boss Audio 3 farad and a PPI 1 farad and both work well

Assuming you haven't already upgraded your alternator, battery, and underhood wiring, the cap will only cause you problems.

Once the cap unloads, it'll draw the power from your battery, causing your alternator to work overtime. This will eventually lead to a dead alt + a dead battery.

Just make sure everything under the hood is solid, and you should be fine.

Also, do a search for xstatic batcaps. Choose one in your pricerange, and you'll be set.. They'll hold a bigger charge, and unload/recharge more quickly than your standard 1fa cap with the same pricetag.

I just got a 1 farad Rockford Fosgate cap off ebay for $76.50, what the company did was take a RF cap without digital display and add one on, so far it seems to be working well.
Seller was 12volt

Um, if i remember correctly, I'm runnin 2 lightning audio digital 1-farad caps... They've done nothin but rock for me. Got em joined w/ 2 buss bars, and they've held up to 1100-1900 watts of power fer me great.

at what point would you need to upgrade form a 1 farad to a 2 farad?

The general rule is 1 farad for every 1000 watts,
