hey guys i am probalby going to put a 130 amp alternator on my x, and i will also be installing a audiobahn 800watt amp to push 1 audiobahn 12 sub.
I currently also have a optima yellow top battery.
When i get done with all that should i expect my lights to dim when the bass hits? or should the 130A be enough to sustain power to everything?

i think it should because right now my alternator is putting out 65 amps and the truck runs ok...so after the system is put in and 130a alternator is added i would think it would be ok.. what do you guys think?

all help is appericated

thanks
ryan

i think the calculation to see what size alternator you need is

Total RMS output wattage x 2 / supply voltage= current draw(in amps)

So your would be : 800 x 2/12=133.33 amps

Plus you have to factor in what your car need for lights, computer, ect...

the audiobahn amp pushes 560 rms..i would think that that number would be used.

also i'm only running 1 12 if that matters any.

also i think the OPTIMA yellow top would play a postive role, don't u?

thanks for your help.

I think you will be fine. At idle you may see a little dimming but there shouldn't be any with a slight amount of throttle.

cool

if i see a slightly amount of dimming, maybe i'll consider adding like a 1/2 farad lighting cap.

thanks
ryan
