What do you all think. What is the big difference between the two. I'm not worried about any kind of measurements for mounts or anything like since i'll be making new cross members and driveshafts.

I'm in the process of buying a C5 from a guy and he's got a 1350 Manual he'll give me with it.

He told the 1354 would bolt up to the C5 but i thought i read somewhere that it wouldn't match up due to spline count. What do you know?

1354 will go in place of a 1350 no issues, it bolts on

the difference between the two (besides some slight internal differences I believe, Rockranger maybe will chime in on this as he has worked with both cases) is the front output pinion/yoke for the D shaft.
The 1354 uses a bolt on flange like any explorer and the 1350 is the erlier cardigan style driiveshaft flange I believe.

1354 will bolt to the C5, they are physically the same case aside from the front output.

My BII was 5 speed with 1350
I went to 5 speed with 1354 and explorer driveshafts (along with dana 35 TTB and 8.8 at the same time)

It now uses a 1354 with the ex driveshafts, rebuilt, again (I started with a new set)

The front output on my 1354 is a yoke, not a flange.

1997 model?
I am not familiar with the gen II t cases to know this.
my 1354 has a flat flange with 4 bolts
the 1350 I THINK (many years ago) had a u joint style hookup

I am sure there are pictures, as I said Matt took both cases apart and discussed the differences I believe in one of his manual t case and doubler threads

They also have a different shift linkage. The handle and mount are the same, the difference comes in the part that connects the handle to the transfer case. The 54 is a straight piece, while the 50 is curved. We made the 50 linkage work on the 54 the other day on Spas truck, but it kind of binds. I have an extra linkage that you would need if you can't find one.

1354 Linkage, notice how the part with the big bolt in it is straight.

You know what the 1350 linkage looks like..

Its pretty easy to figure out, good luck:D

Jamie, my tcase from from an older vehicle, but yes it's a yoke.

You've got a 1350 tcase linkage? I may need it, but if i can use my 1354 i may, or i might sell to someone on here, they seem to be hard to find so it would help fund other projects :D

You know what I read it wrong, I thought u were going to 1354 like most people do. There is still a difference in the linkages though. I however have a 1354 linkage, sorry.

no big deal, i know you PA boys can't read anyways! :D :p:

lol

1350 has a slip yoke for the front driveshaft. 1354 has a fixed yoke. The rear on the ones I have delt with all have had flanges. There are two divernt size flanges though. So the rear driveshaft may or maynot bolt in in between. The shifters are different as metioned as well. The 1350 has 4 gears in the planitaries where the 1354 that I tore apart had 6. A few of the **** forks and stuff are a bit different as well. Same input spline size and same bolt pattern between them as well.

I'm guessing the 1354 would be stronger, but would that ever come into play for me?

mmmmmmmmm **** forks :)

for a doubler I would use a 1350 or 54. For a rear case I would only use a 1354 especally with the long travel front suspension. The 1350 only allows for maybe 3" of slip.

can i have your old tranny?

I had replied to a thread on another forum where a guy was looking for a 5 speed and he hasn't replied back yet. Are u looking for a manual?

yea i am tired of messing with my automatic.

so i want to convert it.
