Anything that someone doesn't understand MUST be harmful .....

Woah woah woah fellas, I never said anything. You pointed out to me that the study showed that acetone was harmfull:

According to the data in the beginning of this thread, most has already been done, put seals etc in acetone, yea they will be destroyed. But they are talkin a minute mixture of gas and acetone

I'm sure that many people would agree with me that even though you're 'only' putting 2-4oz of acetone per tank, that someone who's putting 500miles or more on their X everymonth is doing at least some harm to the engine. Granted there have not been anystudies to prove me wrong, but that's my skepticizm (based on my own thinking) towards this. True I don't have a PhD on acetone in an internal combustion engine, but if it's proven that acetone eats at seals, I don't think it'd be a good idea to have it in my gasoline - let alone my engine - no matter how 'little' was being put in.

from that guys results it sounds like adding it does a aloe lot more than milage increase(from around 17mpg to 21mpg for his Ranger) but also he said the idle is smoother and all the available gas in the cylinders is being burnt because the is no residual smell in the exaust.

if all this is true then acetone and gas sound like a winning combination

Someone, anyone on this Forum, that tests stuff, should ck this acetone thing out:)

We need dyno results :D

You hoser, we're not discussing more power! :p

I have read about this quite a bit. Never found any concrete proof either way I have found countless different people claiming that it was effective and countless others that say it doesnt do anything. LMK any results with PROOF

Ever use the old carb cleaners? The kind you dump in the gas tank? Berryman's used to be tolulene and a few other strong paint thinners (nothing else from what I can remember). I used to use it back then.

Well, ill start my trial today for the good of the forum. :p I honestly dont think it will do anything, so i can be objective. I also have fuel mileage logs from every tank to compare to.

Way to take one for the team...bravo! On this link that was burried in the article there were several other people who had luck:

Acetone as a fuel additive

I would love to see the results so I look forward to your post!

I'm interested to see what your results are James...

Take a look at your injectors and other rubber and plastic parts to see the damage now and after the test.

good luck

Gas mileage.

C'mon guys. A simple, cost effective, mechanically and environmentally friendly way of increasing your gas mileage doesn't exist. If it did it would be common knowledge and included in fuels or the cars themselves.

Big oil companies and auto manufacturers do not have some sort of secret Ninja police force that scour the globe in search of technologies that improve fuel economy, then make these scientists, engineers, and inventors "dissapear"
