First timer here. Can you put 16" rims and tires on an 01 XLT, 4dr, 4WD that has stock 15" tires. I have a set of tires from my 98 sport that was totaled and are BRAND new. What problems would or could there be?? Thanks

Yes, rims will fit fine. The only problems you might have is if the tires are different overall heights your speedo could be slightly off, but if both sets of rims have factory size tires on them the difference would be negligible and you shouldn't have to worry about it.

as long as the new rim and tire combo is not more than 2 inches taller than stock. chances are, they are the same size if they are both stock. but i don't know if the old rims have the same backspacing and brake clearance as the new ones. heck just bolt on a front wheel and see how it fits. put the truck up on jackstands, mount the two front wheels, and turn the steering wheel all the way both ways. if the don't hit anything, and are the same size, go for it.....

Now back to the topic on hand.

16" wheels were an option. If they are factory Ford wheels the back spacing will be the same.

Going from a 235/75R15 to a 255/70R16 (stock tire sizes for the 01) you gain 1 inch in diameter. This equates to about 2-3 mph speed difference at 60 (speedo reads slow) and will feel like you took some gear out on acceleration. If you have 3.73's, your vehicle will feel like it has 3.55's. On the plus side bigger tires look better and you'll get a better ride.
