Other than the way they look, is there a reason to go replace the stock 15x7 wheels with 15x8's for 32x11.50 tires?

7" rims are too narrow for an 11.5" tire. The bead will be forced inward and cause the surface of the tire to bow, causing the tire to wear wrong.

Could one still run that for a period of time, until the $ allow for new wheels?

Sure you can. You may have some trouble getting corporate gaints to mount them, but the local shops should. I run a 33x12.5x15 on a 15x8 rim, I think most here do. You may want to do the chalk test on the tires to get the correct tire pressure. The steel wagon wheels are as cheap as $40 each for 15x8.

With 32" tires on stock alloy wheels, you will be just fine. Your sidewall will be 4" wider than the wheel. Optimally, you want to be 2" wider than the wheel - as in a 15"x9" for an 11.5" wide tire. A steel wheel will give you some advantages on the trail, but, they are heavy, increasing your rotational mass, which in turn will increase your mileage on the street, and stopping distances. Keep the alloys, run the 32s, and have fun!

That's the plan for now... ;)

Yea, save your money, keep the weight down on the rotational mass, and spend that extra money actually going to a nice Off Road park or something...
