Brandon-welcome to the best site for everything you wanted to know about Explorers. You'll find that all the members here are very helpful in trying to help each other solve their problems. You might look into BFG AT KOs. Many of the posters here rave of its performance on and off the road. I don't have them but I do have BFG Longtrails. I do only light off roading and spend more time on the highways so these are right for me. I don't think you could go wrong with BFG tires. So far its the best ones I've had on my '91XLT. Try doing a search for past postings in regards to the BFG AT KOs on this site. It might give you more information on these tires.

Go with the BFG's AT KO's. I love them. Have them on both my trucks. Welcome to this site.

Brandon,
31X10.5 R15 BFG's, then buy a set of Warrior extended shackles and do the "torsion bar twist". Do a search on the board for warrior shackles to get the part number. you can order them from Desert Rat in Az., and they will have them shipped out to you. Dead Link Removed
This is a quick and easy way to get a little clerance for your tires, and the bigger tires will give you a little more ground clearance.
Welcome to the BEST EXPLORER WEBSITE ON THE INTERNET!! Dead Link Removed

hey im 16 and i just bought a '95 explorer XLT 4x4 that i love to death. as part of the deal, the dealer told us he will replace the crappy stock goodyear wrangler tires with some that he can buy wholesale for cheap. i do plan to go offroading often, but i need a set that gives me good traction but still is manageable driving around town. i was thinking some kind of all-terrain tire. any suggestions of size and brand and type would be greatly appreciated.

ps.- i just registered and i think this whole site is sweet and nicely maintained.

Welcome to the website! I am also 16 and have a 92 XLT. The only tires I would run are the BFG AT. They are excellant offroad, and they are quiet at all speeds on the road. They are the best offroad tires you can buy.

Once again, welcome!

Hey I also have a 1995 Explorer and i am 16 also! The gu before me put on BFG Long Trails and they are EXCELLENT tires. I do a lot of rain/snow/ice driving and they preform EXCELLENT! I even went off in a forest preserve parking lot that was not plowed after our last 5 inches of snow and the Explorer drove like it was 1 inch of snow! I love it and will most likely stick with Ford SUVs for a long time to come!
