17x8 OR 18x8.5

theoretically, an 18x8.5 has around 16% more weight than a 17x8 (surface area wise).

although 18" looks so much better, a 17" seems more light weight, fits a bit better, and rides a bit better due to more rubber, a bit more forgiving on bumps, etc... it's also lighter so acceleration in my vehicle won't be sacrificied too much with the 17s.

however, 17s are everywhere... and i think 18s look a bit better.

20s are out of question... too heavy and too wide for me.

so which would be a good compromise?

my 18 by 9s only weigh 21 lbs each and the rear 18 by 10s weigh 24 lbs.

what that means is that even with the tires on them they are much lighter than the old 17 by 8s i used to have.

i say go with an 18 for sure but make sure you find something on the lighter side.



and the ride quality is excellent with nitto 404s. not a real difference from the old 17s
