19 owns you (gonna be in truckin too!) worklog!

well, the brackets for the seats are pretty simple (and i have the plans) and i got the seats for $140 shipped a few months ago so you can probably make that happen.

The airbag is covered now? Seems a little not safe.

actually keeping the airbags functional was one of my main objectives and it really forced me to install some things in certain ways and made me not want to do the whole dash with glass.

the airbag is just covered with a piece of suede that is 3m spray adhesived to it. i figured that was the safest way i could cover it at all.

i don't really know i guess, but do you really think its unsafe with just a piece of suede over it?

Well, since it's just spray adhesive then yeah, it's probably fine. Not sure if the force would popped it off or not.

Idea- Maybe incorporate a design like the normal airbag is, so it's two pieces not connected in the middle, which is where it seperates(I believe).

I thought it was wrapped around the backside and secured with staples.

You got me drooling, sir. =] Great job.

Wow Drew! Looks great. That is some awesome work.

i'm pretty sure it will work just as it should, the spray adhesive's hold really isn't that strong and it doesn't wrap around the sides really at all.

Sick. Just sick. Rear buckets are killer.

:chug:

I wouldnt worry about the steering wheel cover. If its just 3M spray and it doesnt wrap around much, i doubt it will hold the airbag back. You may get slapped upside the head with a piece of suede, but i think it will still go off. :p

Sweet!

it doesn't wrap around at all really, and its not the really sticky 3m adhesive.

wow.

Looks AMAZING!! All you need now are some white faced gauges, billet aluminum pedals, and you'll be set!

i actually just ditched my white faced gauges- don't like the look as much as having the gauges sort of blend in.

i have pedals but they aren't installed yet too.

It all looks amazing - I can't imagine spending that much time on my truck and not getting fired or lossing my girlfriend in the process.

Can you give me a breakdown on the audio, what speakers you have where and what amps you have powering them. Also does 19 speakers give any advantage over 5 speakers plus subs other then volume.

the first page has sort of a breakdown.

audiobahn abc6003q sets times 2 up front and clarion srk5 center channel. front speakers are powered by an mtx 4002 amp and the center channel has its own amp it came with.

mtx 9500 subs are powered with a 1501d

clarion rear components are powered with an mtx 202

the major advantage of all of those speakers is in sound quality, it sounds much much fuller and the speakers don't have to work very hard to create a lot of volume which means much less distortion.

well, we got the 1983 monte on saturday. pictures will be forthcoming. its everything it needs to be for sure.

it needs a couple small repairs, but no where near as much as i'd expect on a car that old for only $2,500. We also got a surprise when we found out that the block may be a 400 and not a 355. Either way it makes enough power for us.

monte stereo notes- this is the stuff we're talking about putting in it for now...

these are all JBL products

2 or 3 of the gti 15" woofers (350)
2 or 3 of the 1201.1 amplifiers (325)

gt0755.6 (250) amplifier pushing two of the lower level component sets the gto606c's (125) and also pushing a set of the gt100 10" (55) subs in a kickpanel location

it would need an audiocontrol eqx (250)as well to get the crossover situation and some equalization right

it will also have a large 10-15" in-dash screen, and most likely the clarion 945dxz hu (530) and srk5 center channel (100).

Subs- MA1500XL - 600W RMS $200 ea
Sub Amp - HK-302SX - 1400W RMS @ 1ohm $325
Components - Y3K6C - 2-way 6.5" componet 150W RMS - $80
4-channel - HK-597 - 200W RMS x 4 - $225
8's.. MA80XE - 250W RMS ea. $45
for the 8's.. could do a HK-797 (200W RMS x 2) $190
or the HK-397 (150W RMS x 2) $165

same video stuff and control

that ones a lot cheaper eh? dont' know if its enough but the install is really where its at not the components used

audiobahn-

2 immortal series 15s 2250 rms 1 ohm each

or 2 eternal series 15s 1300 rms 2 ohms each/ a2x600hq rack mount 2400 by 1 at 1 ohm amp

front speakers- 2 sets of acis62or one set of acis63 / a200xq2 140 by 2 at 4 ohms and 200 by 2 at 2 ohms

aw800q 8" 300 wrms woofers/ a200xq2 for these as well

i don't know about using their hu- would still want to use the clarion 945

an aex500q 40 band eq and 3-way crossover (although would still rather have audiocontrol for this stuff)

also, it may be cheaper to not have the rack mount equipment, but i can't stand the flames in the chrome on the amps.

clarion-

xw1500 subs times 4 dvc 4ohm subs/ apa4300hz amplifiers

srs1685 components times 2/ apa4320 amplifier

srw1083 10" woofer times 2 dvc 4 ohm/ apa4320 amplifier

srk5 center channel

945dxz hu

mcd360 3-way electronnic crossover

a couple of new pictures

Now you just need a cowl hood like mine! Of course that would mean painting all the flames again... BTW, did you remove the gas struts for the hood?

Your truck looks great though. Really, really well done.
