19 owns you (gonna be in truckin too!) worklog!

my box, which was just 2 layers fleece can hold my weight - 180 or so - the way expo does it, it can probably hold 2x whatever my box can.

Unfortuneately I can't take credit for making it or the placement of the switches. I bought the dvd player off of Drew and he convinced me to let him make up the holder for it. I must say I am very impressed and can't wait to get it.
BTW yes the switches do light up when they are on.

Lookin' good. I need to see this console finished so I don;t get flamed for copying Expo's when I do mine. Hurry up man! I'm ready to start! :burnout:

typhoon do whatever you want with yours- lol

pretty much its just gonna be filled with electronics up front and the rear will have a flamed fire extinguisher on the flat part. what will set it apart from yours is the pearl green flames etc. not like they'd look the same unless you lift my paint too.

please don't do that thoug heh

no pictures from today

news-

my 5.25" components came in, and i decided to make fiberglass pods for them that will image them back at a central seating location behind the truck. also, started the process of ordering custom expo5.0 folding seats for said theatre. the pods will be at the far upper corners of my box looking in from the rear. Will run the flamed grilles on these as well, just to keep continuity. btw- i'm really not sure they flame grilles are gonna look great up front with all of those so close together (4 per side), but i absolutely need them up front for protection reasons, and i can't think of any grilles that would look better with my overall scheme.

my m3 mirrors came in, will be getting to work on that asap (but along with all this other stuff they are at my moms house rather than my apartment about an hour away so i don't really have it quite yet) deadline for these is next friday so expect some pics soon.

I also used bondo glass to tighten up all the gaps between the stuff from yesterdays pictures and the plastic around it. I used it just to get the right shape, and next i will pull it out and lay some real glass down. this way i know it fits tight without any gaps etc.

i also, decided that i need to put my center channel speaker somewhere other than in the center console (although i have time delay i think it should be higher imaging wise) i thought about a ton of options, but decided to cut apart my bezel for my 11" screen and get it fit in there somehow sort of here the little .5" speakers were from the factory in the lcd. It sgonna be a ton of extra work and will require modifications of the circuitry of the lcd just a bit, but in the end i think it will be well worth it. I'll post some pictures as i get something done on that (probably next week though, i have too many other things to get done that relate to the painting of the exterior which is becoming quite a deadline now)

let me know if you have any ideas etc. or if you want to borrow me some $. i don't even have enough money for the other set of speaker grilles lol. I've spent like 300 at home depot on sand paper and resin and a few wiring things in the last few days.

i mocked up the console with glass since i'm going ot be working on it when i don't have teh truck (while it gets painted) i normally would have done the contouring for all the equipment at the same time, but it won't be here until after i drop the truck off so i had aproblem there.

i also started on my mirrors and a few other things

wow are those mirrors ever smaller, btw i did the dremel work necessary to make them fit and starting glassing them and it was a major %#$$%$#. probably don't recommend anyone else do it unless they turn out amazing.

I also decided i wanted to do some work to my wiper cowl and paint my antenna base blah blah blah. i just keep comign up with new ideas but i guess thats cool

oh, and finally my dvd player got here. can't wait for the 945dxz but it shouldn't be here before the 5th.

also made progress on the mirrors (actually much more than is shown in this picture here) essentially what this picture shows is the accord shaped base glassed onto the top of my explorer base and then some smoothing with fibre bondo.

then as soon as i got the wiper things done and checked out how they looked i decided that i wanted to shave all of the holes. so here is a picture of that. I guess i'll drill a few holes in them to let some air in if someone tells me it is needed? so tell me if its needed ok?

also, first $12 paypal to me gets that jig saw. in perfect condition etc.
