1990 Eddie Bauer wheels on a 96?

Hey everyone,
I need to know if 1990 explorer wheels would fit on my 1997 explorer. I went camping/fishing on the week-end and got my car stuck for two days (i didnt have a chain block). Anyways after that i decided to get some new tires for some light off roading. Id like to get some decent tires for those wheels and use them whenever i go camping. So, if any of you have some suggestions for a tire brand please tell me. Its about a 300km drive to the park, then another 150km off roading. The bigest rock that i went over scraped the bottom of my car( stock 97). So thats 600kms on road and 300 off.

yes the rims will fit, and i think the Dunlap mud rovers are a great tire for there price. they have great traction and ride OK as well.

If I remember correctly the rims from those two years have a different offset, so they will be tucked way into your fenders. This may play a part in having clearance issues if you go with a bigger tire. It might also look a bit funny if you are concerned about that. You could do spacers to push them back out if you want to go that route. If you search, i know i have seen a few pics of second gens like yours with first gen wheels on them. Good luck.

its actually a 1997, so sorry about that. If i emcounter a problem with backspace, i can correct it with spacers..i know thats not the best thing to do because it stresses the studs. What are my alternatives? what if i weld the spacers to the wheels? I have acces of a big lathe so i can turn down any rough weld. Or should i just leave them the way they are?

Have you guys ever heard of dick cepek tires? Any good?
