Im changing the tranny in my 92 explorer 4.0 auto. Im stuck on removing the flywheel bolts. I cant get a socket on the nuts because they are too close to the lip of the flywheel and theres no way to get a wrench in there. HELO PLEASE!!! how do i get these bolts out.

Welcome to this forum! There are 6 bolts on there. They are pretty close to the inner part of the flywheel. There is a crankshaft to flywheel spacer behind it. Do you have a picture to show the problem you are having? They are pretty easy to remove once the transmission is out of the way.

Do you have the starter removed? If I remember right, you reach those bolts throught the starter hole.

sorry yeah im looking to remove the torque converter TO flywheel bolts i have the starter removed and you can see the bolts but i cannot get the socket to wiggle between the lip of the flywheel and the bolt head. No wrench will fit either.
