Hey guys...Noobie here...and I must state that I am pretty mechanically challenged. I just purchased this vehicle...When I took it for a test drive last week, 4wd worked...now today..I push the button and I get a slight "clickin" sound from the rear somewhere, and the lights appear to flicker a bit..but that is it...it does not light up, and does not engage...Thanks in advance.

get up under it and check the wiring to the transfer case. and if you use the search function, you will find about ten thousand threads on exactly this problem. i had it myself, and that's how i became a member here!

yes and yes, and no and no. depending on the problem it could go either way with cost, but if you're handy with tools, you should be able to handle it.

yep that's the one. they are pretty notorious. check out the threads on this, to make sure that's actually what's going on though.....

Well Guys...A big thanks is in order...I crawled under the truck and began taking the motor off...I got the weight off ok...then I began lossening the bolts that held the motor...I could not get them to budge...and after a few knuckle busters, I figured I was in over my head...so I figured I would "tap" on the motor as I read here...Put everthing back together...and low and behold....it worked. A big thanks to everyone who responded, and to this site in general. I am glad that I have a place I can come to for answers:)

Not to rain on your parade, but I would expect "tapping" to be a temporary fix. Expect to have to replace or rebuild this motor in the future.

Mike
