1993 Ford Explorer. My 4WD is not working.

I own a '93 XLT 4wd and was told that maybe the reason the 4wd is not working is that the electric shifting motor on the transfer case is bad. Somebody please help.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the transmissions & transfer cases section. Do you have auto or manual hubs? Check the sticky threads on the top of this section for more information.

Listen very closely for a clicking noise behind you when you push the 4x4 button

If you hear the click, look for the shift motor rebuild. it is essentially free.


if no click, look at the shift module-located under the driver side rear trim panel
