1993 ranger custom or aftermarket intake?

with the cramprd space on top of the fan shroud is it an intake that will fit well and be large enough for a preformance gain? Ideas questiond comments?

You can get aftermarket intake tubes. Don't expect a performance gain, it is not a significant bottleneck in air induction. IFab makes an intake pipe to replace that pipe, I made mine out of aluminum intercooler pipe. Also, if you stop a moment to view the sticky at the top of this section, you will see there is a how to on making intake pipes.
 






What he said....you may see something if you do a combo of other things, but even then not much.
The engine will rev a little freer though. I'd just buy a 3" MAS adapter plate & stick a K&N on the end. Leave the factory tube on there.
Don't forget to plug the vacuum line from the stock intake.
 












that is a crankcase breather. Goes to your oil filler neck, recirculates into your intake.
 






a 3 inch tube will fit in the stock location and not hit the hood.
 






i wasnt expecting a 100 more hp lol. just a lil better gas mileage and a lil sound. wasnt trying to go overboard with a truck that costed $400 lol
 






i put a 4.6 crown vic maf housing in mine and the throttle shaft mod and it seems to do pretty good other than that its stock intake though
