1994 3.0L Aerostar. Electrical question.

Small black plug w/red light mounted at the bottom edge of the dash and below the steering column. What's it for? I assume for a code scanner? The tiny red light is on all the time, even when the ign is turned off and key removed. I've ordered shop manuals, but have yet to receive them. Thanks.

The 1994 model doesn't have an OBD-II port under the dashboard. The computer plug for the EEC-IV is under the hood. Do you have an aftermarket alarm system?

Dunno if it has an alarm - maybe. However, if it did, I would think that the previous owner (original owner) would've blessed me with a remote... eh?

It doesn't look familiar. Maybe it's part of a passive alarm without a remote? Look under the dashboard, and try to follow the wiring to see where it goes.
