I need to disconnect the 'spout' in order to read all of my codes while engine is running, I have no clue where it is though. Do you have any ideas?

Please dont double post.

I've never heard of a spout. What "spout" are you talking about?

Sorry about that, I thought that I had deleted the content of this post as I realized that it may have been miscategorized.
"Spout" is what ford calls the timing advance connector. It has something to do with the ignition timing. You are supposed to disconnect it when reading OBDI codes. A sticker under the hood even mentions disconnecting it, but it does not seeem to tell where it is.

Could you possibly move this to the "EEC IV" section of the forum?

Dunno if this is exactly it but:

I think that you are onto something, thank you for the links =) The only thing is that I have an electronic ingition and no distributor.

Can anyone confirm this?

Ahaha well those links are pretty much useless then :D

You are correct, you do not have a distributor. I'll look around to see if I can find a diagram.

Edit: Here's this:

That doesn't mention a Spout connector, although I swear I've read about it somewhere.

On second though, why are you having to disconnect it? I've ran all possible EEC test on my truck and was never instructed to disconnect it.

The closest I've seen to a spout connector is the octane shorting block. As far as I can tell thats the only thing that you can disconnect to change your timing (pulls it back).. But I don't think it works the same way as the old spout connector you used to pull when checking timing.

In case it is.. Its on the passenger side near the firewall.. Mine was really close to the EEC-IV connector.

unfortuneately my ford ignition system knowledge is not as good as it should be, however heres what i know, the spout is used to eliminate the advance and set the vehicle into base timing. i was under the impresion that this was only on distributor systems.
To the best of my knowledge your 94 shouldnt have one

Ya know, you might be right on that one, if thats puling it back it might bring it back to base. althoguth i thought it was all computer controlled regardless on these motors

On my '92, the SPOUT connector is right close to the coil pack in the wiring harness. You only need to pull the SPOUT connector when checking base ignition timing. You don't need to touch the SPOUT just to pull codes from the computer.

heh, i feel retarted, i missed the whole point to the original post

no, the spout has nothing to do with code retreival

Oh crap, I guess that is what I get for trusting an actron manual. I am thinking that I should not have bought the damn code reader and perhaps used the multimeter method.

ive got an actron that i use on my 94 and i love it. but my manual says nothing about disconnecting the spout connector.

I will take a picture of where it says so in my manual, I just have to unpack my camera(just moved from detroit to new jersey)
