I have searched the forums and found similar problems but mine is slightly different. I have been dealing with this problem for a while and thought i had it figured out. My explorer would start right up in the morning and i would drive down the road 5 mins or so... stop to get some smokes and hop back in the car and it wont start. It will crank and crank and crank no start. I have been through three mechanics and dealerships trying to get this fixed ie. Fuel pump, thermostats, all kinds of stuff but i have dealing with this for so long that i have forgot all that has been done. I figured out that if i disconnect the mass air sensor and wait for the check engine light to come on the car will start right up. So i went out and changed the sensor out. This worked well for a while because my other car is broken down with transmission problems.

The same simptoms have been occuring lately and the same fix was working.
Disconnect the mass air sensor... car starts right up. Now.. when i disconnect the sensor the ECU will not throw a check engine light. I have tried disconnecting the battery and again nothing. Is my ECU dead??
I have replaced it at the dealership about 60,000 miles ago...

sorry for the long post.... any ideas??

Thanks so much
