I have the electronic 4wd, and when I engage 4wd I get a loud banging thumping noise, especially when i turn. I really don't have much time to work on it during the week, because Im at college during the week, I need to get rid of my parts truck asap and I want an idea of what I can take off of it to fix mine. Also my fuel guage waves erratically back and forth, what could that be? And my speedometer flips out after like 50ish mph. I know, one thing at a time, but I need to get rid of the parts truck and I dont want to get rid of something I need. Help me!

2 possible thoughts:
1) Does it only bang and thump when turning? Are you on pavement when this is happening? If so, this is nromal for a part-time 4WD system like this. However, don't engage 4WD on pavement - something will eventually break.

2) Possibly the auto hubs randomly engaging/disengaging? Of course, once engaged, they are supposed to stay engaged all the time. Do you have power at the front wheels when in 4WD?

I dont know if the front wheels are engaging. I dont really have anywhere to take the car off the pavement to try (near me in jersey). It banged the loudest when i turned the wheel (this was the first and only time i had it in the mud by my friends house in the middle of nowhere pa) , and also i forgot to mention sometimes when im on the highway the light for low range comes on randomly. but nothing happens (no noise, etc) so i desregard it. Any advice/idea what it is?

Would that be the hubs? I had a mechanic look at the hubs and he said they were ok???
