1995-2001 explorer model choice

ok sounds good. for the 1999, not that heated seats are a big deal but if i decide to fix it, would it cost a lot?

also, there is another one. slightly higher mileage, close to 153k miles but slightly cheaper. here's the link to the ad and he has sent a couple more pics that i will email you.

Heated seats are nice, but I rarely use mine here in Calgary. Chances are you'd rarely use them in Vancouver. ;)

Probably a minor fix anyhow (fuse etc.).

Do you like that mint color?

It's not bad truck it sounds like, if you dig it. Might be worth a look...

Also- with the Limited's, check the bumpers for rust. They are prone to rust, since they're just a painted steel bumper(s). Paint is hard to match, too.

Also- I have issue with his claim of having the cleanest V8 AWD. Sean won that competition. Then again, I didn't enter... :D

It doesn't look bad, but you'll need a new steering wheel (I have some, black though- tan is tough to find not destroyed like that one) and I don't like that he tilted the camera and/or doesn't show the door seams, and the rockers by the rear doors. I'd ask to see pics of them, and preferably with a real camera, not a cell if you have a drive to get there. Cell pics can hide weird stuff, like what is the brown line above the door trim on the passenger door?

He did spend $ on a new Taurus though... :)

haha so you would say the green 1999 limited explorer with 140k miles would be the best bet? His bottom line is $2900. Does that sound fair?

If it's clean on the doors, and such, that's not bad (see above added text). It would be a bit less over here, but trucks up there seem to be a little higher. I'd say $2,500 cash and go from there. It's always harder to say no to cash when it's in front of you... ;)

And those B and D-pillars are easy to repaint black as well as the added on rear deflector if you do look at the minty...

I do think the dark green is the first one I'd pursue though...

so for the dark green one, does $2900 sound like a fair price? or should I try to go a bit lower lets say $2500 and see what he says?

If it's between the greenies, I'd say $2000-$2,200 on Minty and I'd say $2700-$2900 on Mossy based on what things seem to be going for you yonder but yeah- start at about $2,500 and see where that goes. :D

awesome thanks :)

if well maintained, how long can these trucks run without needing major maintenance?

Personally, I'd wait. The '99 looks nice, but it's got almost 2X as many miles as mine. :)

I've seen decent '99-'01 with a lot less km before. Be patient and you'll find something. The hardest part is finding a V8. Remember, you have the XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited to choose from in those years. Finding the 5.0 is always trickier, but possible (I got mine a while back with only 54,000 km and I had many others to choose from in Calgary). Mind you, that was 5+ years ago.

I never liked that mint green colour. Reminds me of a certain wanker from AK that got banned from these parts LONG ago. ;)

haha. yeah i have some time to wait. i'm selling my car tomorrow but the 1999 ex ltd v8 guy is leaving for vacation tomorrow so maybe another one will come up by then :)

I saw a '99 EB on autotrader.ca last night. 178K km. $3500.

Only catch, it's Quebec, eh? ;)

haha yeah. thats kinda far. and i dont speak french! is it a v8?

That minty looking Limited looks pretty nice, I think sometimes I'm the only person to like the odd Limited colors. The tan inside looks a little awkward though. Minty green and tan = whoa. But seriously, lousy 4.0?! I mean, granted a 4.0 isn't a V8 but LOUSY?!? Why I oughta....

Good luck with your search!

thanks! i think i'm got my eyes set on one. see how it goes :)

In Quebec, it would be a V-Huit... :D

Soooo... I finally made the purchase last night! Got the 1999 Explorer Limited V8! Excited :) will post pictures soon.

My next question is, right now it has slightly larger tires, I was wondering what is the stock tire size? The wheels I have on them right now are 16 inch rims and tires i think are 275/75/16? not 100% sure can verify when i get back.

Mainly its because i would like to start shopping for winter tires and need to know the right stock size to get for the 16 inch rims.

I did some research and seems like the explorers had 15inch rims but did the limiteds have the 16 inch rims?
