1995 Ford Aerostar
Just got me a 1995 Aerostar XLT for free. From sitting it has an epic miss right now. Runs and drives though. It's a 4.0L with an auto bolted to it. The auto has morning sickness. Has the rear AC. Anything I need to be leary of? The left side of the gauge cluster seems glitchy; the coolant and oil pressure are twitchy and will go from high, to middle, to pegged, to low again, lol. It has 282k. My plans with this truck was to get it running right then head to CT. Here is the pick of the beast; sorry, no interior pics, but the interior is ridiculously clean.

I'm sure BrooklynBay will chime in soon, he's the king of the Aero's...

Nice van though, looks quite clean for a 1995!

It has the typical Aerostar shattered bumper on the front and the rear is cracked. Other than that it great body-wise, the interior is super clean too; here is some pics of the interior:

Welcome to this forum! It looks pretty good considering its age & mileage. The upper part of the interior panels near the headliner usually start to warp, and the rocker panels develop rust spots which ultimately devour the side of the vehicle. As for your current issues, did you check the charging system, battery terminals, and the battery?

The battery and the terminals are alright, and the right side of the cluster seem to work just fine (charge and gas). This is a Florida car; no rust.

The internal and external handles that operate the latch for the side sliding door got increasingly hard to operate and have now stopped working so I am stuck with a closed side door. I did take the inside cover panel off and some of the window trim, this enabled me to adjust a threaded screw attached to the rod, was able to open the door from the inside for a while but now that has stopped working again. The outside opener remains not working. Any one any experience with this type of problem? Please send me information.
Thanks

The auto transmission is the only thing I'd really keep a close eye on.

the guage problem may be a loose ground wire.

Take the side door off and lube up the lock and also the key tumbler and any connectors between.I did it a long time ago. don-ohio
