1995 Explorer Limited JBL radio won't turn on

Hello,

I have a 95 Explorer Limited with the JBL premium audio system. The head unit recently will not turn on that controls the radio. All the fuses have been checked and there is power to the unit because it will light up when the headlights are on. I plan to replace the stock head unit with an aftermarket unit but I do not want to do so if there is a power or ground issue that is preventing the radio from functioning properly. Any suggestions?

Illumination circuit with headlights is entirely separate from radio power circuit. You probably should pull radio and see if you have power and ground at the connector - that will tell you if issue is with the radio or the wiring. Seems like I have seen on this forum about issues with the radio power switch; try some searches. Good luck.
