I have a 1995 explorer limited, that doesn't engage into drive... I'm currently cheating it into drive, by putting it into manual 2nd then into drive... I've been told by a transmission shop that it was the tranny and two dealerships that I've taken it to that it's the linkage... I swapped trannys today and it's still doing it, but all the linkage seems to be in good order... Need help soon as I have no other vehicle to drive and have a loan out on it... Oh it also stalls out if I try to take off from a dead stop too fast... As well as these issues it tries to shift up and down randomly at highway speeds...

Is the linkage binding? Too much slack? I believe they are adjustable. The shops were not able to fix this problem or you didnt authorize the repair?

I swapped transmission myself, but I keep getting different theories between transmission shops and dealerships... I put one in yesterday that was rebuilt 20,x.. miles ago
