Anybody know how difficult it is to replace the radio in a '96 Explorer? My CD Changer is on the fritz and want something I can use my iPod or a memory stick/SD card with MP3's on it instead. Do most double sized radios require modifications to the dash? Would it be better getting a regular sized one? Not looking for anything fancy since I'll be selling/trading it in in a year or two. Are there any issues I will encounter because of the premium audio? Thanks guys and gals for any help that can be provided.

most times you will not need to redo the dash in any way. what you will need to do is take off the cluster around the radio (radio will come with). you will most likely need a dash install kit unless you are planning on making your own. wiring harnesses work very well. also some sort of connectors to wire the aftermarket radio to the wiring harness. overall time should take less than an hour and a half if you know what you are doing. YouTube is your best friend.
