Greetings,

I've read through about all the damn threads on the site about these intermediate shafts, and how when the boots go bad you can get some stiff spots in the steering. I also know that there are ZERO of them out there, and they are discontinued through Ford.

Flaming River and Borgeson do not seem to have the proper connection need at the steering rack. At least on parts that they have listed on their site. My end is a rounded triangular connection at the rack, I've attached pictures.

Does anyone have any idea where to go from here? There is one that likely will work on Ebay, just waiting on some pictures from the seller to confirm that connection at the rack is the same as mine.

Short of that working out, what are my options? It seems like I have only a little bit of binding in the steering, the double cardon joint seems tight, but it's dry and rusty as hell in there, and the boots on both ends are trashed. The telescoping feature still works great. The only thing I can think of other than going to the JY for one would be to clean the **** out of it, grease it up real good with wheel bearing grease or fluid film, and try to modify some sort of boot to keep it all weathertight.

The end your showing, is more than likely the issue. That has a ball joint socket type of connector on it. They wear out.

If you can't find one locally, try car-part.com

That's a part finder site for salvage yards, across the country. Most will ship, if too far away.

Can also search around you, for people parting them out.
