I'm still sticking with cracked manifold but dont count out the pcv , they get ignored alot due to where its at

Yup changed the spark plugs and didn’t work. I’m pretty sure it’s the manifold now, going back to the shop today.

Does anyone know how much it should cost to get the passenger side replaced?

Got quoted $280 for labor + parts it’s the manifold guys

Shocking. Lol. That's not too bad, since sometimes the manifold bolts break off. I'm sure he's just covering his bases in case that happens.

Crazy how I seem to have another noise as soon as I got that last one fixed.

I have a very loud electronic buzzing noise on cold start up coming from the rear drivers side, haven’t pin pointed the exact location, it’s very loud.

Any ideas on what it could be? The explorer was on a lift, maybe something got loose ??

Fuel pump

^ yup 2nd that.

Are they normally this noisy?

Could something have gotten loose while being on the lift?

O yea I can hear mine in the cab lol if you listen for it. sounds like a high pitch hydraulic lift operating ,lol and sometimes it's a more low pitch buzzing. Try this, go out and turn the key to run but dont start, with the door open, if you hear it (fuel pump prime noise) that's what your noise is while it's running.

I’ve tried, it only does it when running at idle. I can’t hear it from the inside but it’s pretty loud. I can hear it on quiet mornings almost sounds like a frkn Prius if you ever heard one.

Is this something I should be worried about replacing soon?

I will be going on a road trip and can’t be left stranded

Mine doesn't always buzz on prime and unless there is driveability issues I wouldn't worry you can always check the pump with a simple fuel pressure test you can get the gauge at harbor freight pretty cheap. But the only back there really is the fuel pump I don't see it being anything else and like I said they are pretty noisy. They have even been known to cause radio interference/background noise.

Wow thank you for the reply will be buying a pressure gauge this weekend.

Get a repair manual too if you don't already have one there cheap on eBay there a must have for high mileage older vehicles, they tell you how to test almost everything and list the vehicle spec's.

I'd change it , ive seen them buz along for years but its a sign of failure , on a side note i change alot of ford fuel pumps and the cheapest and safest way is to lower the tank just enough to unbolt the pump flange then lower the tank away from the pump , this allows you to do the job without screwing with the lines , they rarely come apart easy and often break , i then just replace the pump and not the whole pump assembly which saves money
