Hello, you guys were a lot of help about 1.5 years ago, with your help I installed a new steering gear box in my son's 96, extended cab, 4 cyc. Ranger.
It has another problem now. He called today, going down the highway, shut off like out of gas, but has plenty gas. Won't start back up. He has the flu, on his was home from doctor, so didn't feel like a lot a questions right then. I'll be talking to him as he feels better, just going to see if I could get a heads up on it until he starts feeling better. I'm thinking fuel pump and don't even know where it's located. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Just a coincidence I guess, but last week he and a friend replaced the center support bearing on driveshaft, no problems.
Thanks, Steve

...I would check for codes right away even if there is no CEL...I don't think the swap last week could have resulted in this but I am sure after you get some more answers from him, we will be glad to help...:D

...Also need to see for certain if you are in fact, getting fuel and spark...;)

Thanks, as soon as he feels better we'll talk and I'll get back.

O.K., my son and truck are 100 miles away. I did talk to him again today, he says he can hear fuel pump when he switches on, like normal. Truck will still not start today. It quit last night, he was sick and didn't feel like messing with it, not much better today. Turns over fine, just won't start. He will check tomorrow and make SURE that it has fuel and we'll go from there. Thanks, Steve

O.K., here is what happened. Timing belt had broken. Towed the truck back home, my mechanic friend and I put on new timing belt, and new serpentine belt while in there. Would then crank and run, but no power at all. Felt like timing was done right. Then checked Crank Position Sensor, it was bad, installed new one, now runs great, like it should.

Thanks to all for your help, I love this site. Steve
