OK guys here's the deal 97 explorer 4.0 SOHC planted 4.0 SOHC 2000 model down in it the only difference i have found is the fuel system 1997 has 2 fuel lines coming off the rail going down the motor but the 2000 model T's off to each fuel rail with only a single fuel line. So can i get away with pulling the line's off the 97 and use on the 2000 on the 97 it has a return line the 2000 i'm not sure help guide me through this Please and ty in advance for any information

you will need to change the fuel rails, wire harness, all the sensors, and if i am not wrong, but could be the upper intake.

yep, the later model is returnless.

I just did the same thing with one in March. I took an engine from a '99 and put it in an early '98 (it was built in Dec. of '97). All of the listed parts need replaced except if I remember correctly, I think only the knock sensor needs to be changed. The upper intake may or may not need replaced. They are very similar but the one that came with the engine that I got, had a cracked tube and the tube on the original engine was not quite the same so I was forced to use the old one.
